"I just wanted to let you know that I love my HipHammock®.
I bought it right before we went to Sea World. We spent 2 days there and
I had no problem carrying my son who weights 23 pounds. He seemed comfortable.
And, best of all, my husband loved it also. I even heard him bragging
about it to people. I use it everywhere, including WalMart where my son
does not like to stay in the cart. It's been wonderful!"

How It Works . . .
Dear Visitor:
The Hip Hammock® was an inspiration of parent/child bonding. I wanted
more parents carrying their children close, instead of at arm's length
in a plastic container.
What
I saw in other carriers was complication! I wanted to make something simple,
elegant, and functional. I wanted to use sophisticated fabrics, not the
traditional juvenile look of other carriers so fathers wouldn't be hesitant
to wear one. I also wanted to take advantage of our natural ledge, the
hip.
A lot of carriers are strappy and hard to figure out. The Hip Hammock®
has just 2 straps: one is a waist belt (that's easy enough to figure out.);
the 2nd belt is adjusted to fit over one's head and across their upper
body (like a shoulder bag). And that's it!
Put the carrier on your waist, slide the child down through the top of
the carrier into their seat, snug them up with the shoulder belt, and
go!
Use the headrest and the nook of your arm/shoulder to support the little
one's head - just as if your inside arm and hand were holding them to
your hip.
The hammock wraps around the child, snuggling them against you ensures
they won't fall out.
When the child is taller and supports his or her own head, you can flap
down the headrest and bring the child's arms up over the carrier's top
(see picture). Now the carrier is a seat, or what I call a fanny holster.
The openings at the legs will accommodate the larger child. The Hip Hammock®
will carry whatever you can carry!
For
ages 2 months (14 lbs) to 3 years. Note: when worn snugly, the waist belt
will carry over 1/2 of the child's weight. This is an advantage over many
frontal carriers that hang the child's weight from your neck and shoulders.
The shoulder pad on the neck belt has a hook to attach a toy or pacifier.
When not in use, the Hip Hammock® can be rolled up, tied down and worn
on the waist.
Thanks for your interest in the Hip Hammock ®
. Be sure to take a moment to look over the various fabrics and linings
available for your custom-made child carrier.
Sincerely,
Nancie Swanke |
